Dr. Hollis shares his insight and understanding of leadership. He offers examples of different leadership styles as well as his personal experiences in the US Navy and how his tenacity for education shaped his success.

Dr. Eric Hollis was born and raised in Silsbee, TX. He graduated from high school in 1983 and enlisted in the United States Navy and attended basic training in San Diego July 1984. Dr. Hollis served more than 30 years in the United States Navy as an enlisted member and as a Navy Officer. Dr. Hollis served on several U.S. Navy ships and traveled to more than 49 different countries throughout his career.

Dr. Hollis retired from the U.S. Navy on August 1, 2014; his personal awards included the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation (three awards) Joint Service Achievement Medal (two awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Kosovo, Korean, and NATO medals in addition to various other campaign ribbons and medals. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
